Release The Hardship That Hibernates
I wear winter in faded shades of blue
with specks of grey holding true
beckoning me back to nightly sleep
where flowers bloom and summers keep
I wear winter in rugged fingers worn
where dismal lies and beauty's torn
through fields once bright and mighty strong
filled with nature's love and simple song
I wear winter in a rough and solemn face
filled with memories that fell from grace
where wind wrapped skies hide back the sun
behind dark storms never to come out again
I wear winter but she can't wear me
spring will come with all her security
warm smiles spill within a filtered touch
an enchantment I can never have too much
with specks of grey holding true
beckoning me back to nightly sleep
where flowers bloom and summers keep
I wear winter in rugged fingers worn
where dismal lies and beauty's torn
through fields once bright and mighty strong
filled with nature's love and simple song
I wear winter in a rough and solemn face
filled with memories that fell from grace
where wind wrapped skies hide back the sun
behind dark storms never to come out again
I wear winter but she can't wear me
spring will come with all her security
warm smiles spill within a filtered touch
an enchantment I can never have too much

This is lovely. Has the feel of one of those old classics that hold forever in time.

I like how you begin each stanza with "I wear winter." You certainly wear it well in these lines, JusTim.

I love how you used winter as a symbol of sad memories, I like this stanza,
' I wear winter in a rough and solemn face
filled with memories that fell from grace
where wind wrapped skies hide back the sun
behind dark storms never to come out again '
The stoic winter merging with a mood, I would call it a dynamic effect, three dimensional, a lot of your poems have that quality though, maybe a Robert Frost quality to this one..

I think ''Revenge'' has got it right...
that third verse was my favourite as well...
as though your threads all gathered together from fore and aft at just this moment in time and space... being woven into the compleat tapestry...
