Set Me Free
Light peeks through fleeting clouds
tugging at an anchored soul
begging me to breathe, to leave
these confined constraints
cut these tethered straps
set me free
lead me to a destiny
where needy lips don't suffer
in a chapped silence
where the talk isn't small
and the actions are loud
unhinge this sluggish heart
from the weight of your world
let these lonely eyes just see
if they're not for you
set me free

That last stanza just aches. If its not for us, it's like pulling off a bandaid, isn't it? Just get it over quickly rather than prolong it. Sending hugs, my friend

Like the structure of this poem ... the blend of short and long stanzas ... agree with Ash ... the last stanza is poignant ...
