Love in Autumn Twilight

Me with my book of sadness
You with your look of despair
As we walk through the graveyard
Oh, what a heavenly pair
Can we stay out and play tonight?
Forget all the hate and the lies
Been so long since I looked in your eyes

Enwrapped in this Autumn sadness
Helplessly caught in your stare
The world outside that awaits us
They're all too concerned with their hair!
Can we stay up late tonight?
Live the life that was meant for us
Been so long since I cherished your sighs

You are so much more than sadness
You are clever, kind, and fair
When you asked for a cigarette
How I wanted to kiss you there!
I'll walk you home tonight
We'll drink whiskey and curse the light
Been so long since I watched the sun rise!

In this cold Autumn twilight
You look so lovely Mourning Dove
In this world full of madness
Have you ever been in love?
With your hand in mine tonight
Lead past willow, oak and vine
How I want you so; Will you be mine?

In this cold Autumn twilight
You look so lovely Mourning Dove
In this world full of madness
Have you ever been in love?
