Burn Out
May be a lasting mental lapse
A blank mind with little new to say
It seems the loss of mental health
Thoughts fleeting and have gone astray
I slowly try to say my piece
Listeners just draw a blank
My tongue tied tightly in three knots
And I have booze and meth to thank
All clarity seems out of reach
The stupor occupies my mind
I may be soon discovered dead
My carcass dropped and left behind
But I decide to sober up
Besides the solace of my pot
I will put on this ravaged face
And give it all that I have got.
A blank mind with little new to say
It seems the loss of mental health
Thoughts fleeting and have gone astray
I slowly try to say my piece
Listeners just draw a blank
My tongue tied tightly in three knots
And I have booze and meth to thank
All clarity seems out of reach
The stupor occupies my mind
I may be soon discovered dead
My carcass dropped and left behind
But I decide to sober up
Besides the solace of my pot
I will put on this ravaged face
And give it all that I have got.

One can only hope. I just don't want to relapse into the half wit Mr.Hyde I was. Thanks for the encouragement!

Well, my friend, your muse is back with a bang. The argument is dramatically hot and I know you always speak out of heart-felt experiences, but this one speaks clear and loud. Pain, regret, a leap into the wilderness of addiction and substance abuse. This is a message of courage to many. Excellent my friend. J

It's nice to think I set an example. My sobriety is a fragile thing. Still, I try. Thank you J!

Not sure I deserve the mercy. I still have a long way to go, maybe step by step. Thank you Duende!

Thank you graceful one! Those habits are pernicious, and I'm trying to keep my distance.

I'm just glad it hasn't been too obvious in my writing. That would send me even more insane. Thanks SweetOblivion!

The half-life of habit can be very persistent. I cannot walk a mile in your moccasins but I stand with you as best as such a thing is possible here.

The cycle is easy to get into and hard to get out. Realisation is half the battle.
