Koi Pond
I walk up to a small pond
To see fish,
Orange as a hot poker,
Swim in circles
Just below the surface
Of green water,
Their hopeful lips breaching,
Mouths opened wide,
Glassy-eyed
They have become beggars.
To see fish,
Orange as a hot poker,
Swim in circles
Just below the surface
Of green water,
Their hopeful lips breaching,
Mouths opened wide,
Glassy-eyed
They have become beggars.
