Nazarene Narrative

Crucified in public
In front of all
the judgement
All the hungry eyes
Getting satisfied
Roaring from the crowd
The voices getting loud
Too loud to hear
the truth

What you knew
in your youth
Those golden pony shows
Pretty picture pose
Where nobody knows
What goes on inside
The reels of your mind
spinning against the tide

With your mouth open wide
Trying to scream
From all the obscene dreams
Vivid vulgar violence
And nothing but silence
Staring back from mirror

I wish they could hear
What I'm trying to say
That there is no
Other way to the light
You must fight
Off the demons
and beasts of the air
and it's not fair

When you're trapped
In The Lair of Dismay
And told to obey the master
of your own disaster
The blood runs faster
Through the veins
And down the thighs
Of decay and demise
So you fall towards death
Inhale/exhale a final breath

And then die

Breathe
come back to life
as the wife and the bride
Of the bread and the light

No, that don't seem right
If you're living in sin
Back to where you begin
And nothing ever changes
No heart changing lanes
Mind just playing games
Believing all the lies
they used to hypnotize
And blind your eyes

But you never open up
your eyes wide
And never open
your heart to a neighbor
Or your life to a savior
Who comes from above
Only recognizing the love

That you gave to each other
Like a child to a mother
Only seeing the bliss
Of her sweetest kiss
And the warmth
Of the arms
That keeps safe from harm

Is where you should be
If you want to be free
By true love and devotion
That spans every ocean
And closes the divide
With arms open wide
Crucified
