Blue Faith

the dawn ache for her daughter
trapped in the land of neither here nor there
she stood at the bridge
cast her eyes on the other side
there lie her freedom

among foreigners who speak a strange tongue
in a dialect, she can't fathom
she calls to them her language gibberish
only understood in the land of the forgotten

anxiety her native tongue
rage her solitude maker
with smiles that meet the eye
they invite her

she isn't sure she trusts them
pain her father
loss her mother

she will have to forsake all she knows
this is her last shot out of the blackness
the bridge out her faith
it's rickety and old

denial her captor
he denies her entrance
saying you won't fit with them
they are the elite born into a world of joy
you, my friend, were born to burn

she takes a leap
lands squarely on the bridge of faith
finds it's solid beneath her
she crosses confidently over

she hears creaking
one by one she tosses the secrets she's holding
she must enter bare
in truth and love

if they reject her now
she will be utterly and forever crushed
and humiliated in her honesty

the lady is me
I'm afraid, the dawn is weeping
it's blue, the day of my awakening
here I come, forgive me if I don't believe your smile
