LITTLE BOY
Death swirls at my feet
And a memory on repeat
As you snuffed the air in me
Know that I dared to breathe
The curtains keep the light at bay
Yet they glow brighter every day
Footprints echo past the door
Matched the beating of my heart
Whispers dance beneath the floor
But I can't hear them anymore
What's the use in moving on?
When everything worth love is gone?
And now there's comfort in the trees
Lark songs shifting through the breeze
And now there's safety in the dark
I'll gladly sink into those arms
Although the past is long since dead
The trail was steeper in my head
I miss them more when they're too near
So as I fall, I'll hold them dear
The ground became the sky
As I closed my eyes
And I was swimming far above
Fear
