The joy of the highway on-ramp

To and fro
Around the town
Stop and go
Up streets and down
Pedestrians crossing,
Must use caution
Stay alert
through road construction
Shoulder check
Indicate
Follow safely
Don’t tailgate
Drive responsibly
Rules of the road
Ingrained subconsciously
An ethical code

Then finally….

Foot to the floor
Feel the roar
Up to speed
Just a little more
Three second thrill
To help me forget -
I’m driving a mom-van
And not a Corvette.
