For the Love of Earth
My exposed skin is kissed by the morning sun
Later on it will only be felt through the windows the pine trees leave for us
I am grateful they leave some for us,
That they are not as selfish as man to keep beauty captive
That it leaves windows to be kissed through and nights so dark the stars feel like blushing flirts
I have fallen in love too hard and too many times with the earth to say I have never despised it
Never accused it of keeping me out of mind
Because on a planet full of billions of organs and bodies- I have always felt alone
I dream of nestling in the ground
I'd find my mother in the bodies of wolves and worms because she has always felt dead to me
I dream I could inhabit the sky,
That way I could be alone in the most honest way possible
Maybe then,
The earth would finally miss me
Later on it will only be felt through the windows the pine trees leave for us
I am grateful they leave some for us,
That they are not as selfish as man to keep beauty captive
That it leaves windows to be kissed through and nights so dark the stars feel like blushing flirts
I have fallen in love too hard and too many times with the earth to say I have never despised it
Never accused it of keeping me out of mind
Because on a planet full of billions of organs and bodies- I have always felt alone
I dream of nestling in the ground
I'd find my mother in the bodies of wolves and worms because she has always felt dead to me
I dream I could inhabit the sky,
That way I could be alone in the most honest way possible
Maybe then,
The earth would finally miss me
