wipeout

left hollow mountains for the bluffs,
the boardwalk and the sea,
made a paper boat,
sent it off to end the world
and save her,

forever in a daze,
feet stuck in the muck,
quicksand, a happy song
on the boardwalk,
and i'm smoking wine, so

i defy you, stars.

*

eating dark shapes till
there aren't enough left
for plenty of fish in the sea
to make sense,

i dive deep for her,

till i'm faded,

till the bubbles stop,

till i'm a particle of dust falling
gently onto the gnarliest of waves.
