Salt of Life
still remember
the day i arrived
silenced bird with
disfigured wings
insecure about
everything but
willing to evolve
you came my way
spoke of sound
enjambment
onomatopoeia
rhythm and flow
showed me how
to cut & prune
paved the way
to better writes
but the thing that
inspires me most is
your brutal honesty
and steadfastness
to not withhold
thanks Todski
because of you
and your support
i’ve found my voice
and sing my own song
the day i arrived
silenced bird with
disfigured wings
insecure about
everything but
willing to evolve
you came my way
spoke of sound
enjambment
onomatopoeia
rhythm and flow

but the thing that

thanks Todski

Indeed... not a lot of writers are like that, I'm grateful I met one!
Happy you liked the enjambment... when I started reading here it didn't make sense to me at all. Now I can't write without it (you should read some of my first work, it's a difference like night and day)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment!

A moving tribute, Duende. That's the best kind of support when you can finally cut loose and sing your own song. You write yours beautifully.

Writing a tribute is (was) quite challenging, so I'm glad it came as a surprise and made you smile! It's well deserved... don't underestimate yourself!
It maybe true that I already had a voice, but it was a voice I didn't like and even though you think teaching me a few things was not a great deal, it meant a lot to me! I changed my style (almost) overnight and I couldn't have done that without you!
Thank you for your comment and the reading list add, I really appreciate it!

You made me laugh out loud! Just a bonus, lol
I'm very much aware of your ego and I'm glad you are too, but I happen to like big ego's... and opiniated so and so's... deep down they're often very cute ;-)

What a delicate and inspiring tribute, it seems you’ve truly blossomed! It’s so important to find others you can vibe with and share mutual support with. I’m glad you’re here.

Your "I'm glad you're here" made me smile.
Thank you for your heartwarming words, I think it's indeed the beauty of this place... the connections you build and the support given and received.

In all honesty... they are far from healed, but I believe that no matter how dark life is, it's important to not forget the positives! Thank you for your comment :-)

perhaps healing is not binary...and happens over time...but in the meantime...how's this for positive: darkness can be great fuel if you let it :)
i do wish you well and to be on the other-side of where-ever you wish not to be!

now this is great i'd love to read more selfless poems like this
I for one have written a piece where I thank all the people who groomed me and inspired me.
i'd like to see people(poets) help more upcoming and young writers
such an awesome write
guess i'm now a fan

Thank you so much for your enthusiastic comment!
Will look for that poem... tributes and selfless poetry are necessary, especially since there's a lot of darkness here (my page included)
Great to hear you think this is awesome.... flattered you're a fan :-)

Having given many others tributes of my own
I realize it’s importance... this was a great one
n I’m sure he was feeling deeply honored.

Excellent offering, Duende. Very befitting tribute to one who took the time to care. Not many take the time to express their gratitude, much less encase it in poetry.
Poetry is forever, no matter what. 📝❤

He did take the time and because of a competition I finally found the inspiration to express my gratitude, aside from the fact that he and his work are very inspiring!
Honered by the reading list add ❤

The tribute itself is sweet (and from what I’ve read, deserved), but this is also just a well written and cleverly plotted piece.
Though given your work to this point, I can’t say I’m surprised

Yes, he truly did - was a great inspiration to many.
Unfortunately he left this place - based on your words I can only hope he was still here when you joined the deep. I will keep singing my song, I can only be me, unapologetically me.
Thanks heaps for commenting, Ethan, I appreciate you!
