Visual Eyes

The eyes expose those secrets that lie behind the disguises
They're the windows to our souls no matter what the guise is
Emotion arises into these window panes when devoid of shades
Displaying anger, pain and many other things that our words evade

Evading telling of our reality by charismatically saying that we're ok
Then behind closed doors nobody knows that we're barely getting by day to day
Hoping one day that sun rays breakthrough the dark clouds
Destroying mounds that have turned into mole hills that make us feel down

Turning frowns the other way around; providing a glimmer of hope
Providing ways of seeing things through a different lens and scope
Learning to cope without indulging in substances that alter our vision
And finding more productive, less destructive, ways to deal with depression
