Music Is A Drug
The music engulfs me,
Sets me free,
Rock, Metal, Pop,
So many sub cultures to those,
Some favorites are acid rock,
The trippy music messes with your mind,
Makes you question who you are,
Makes you think "Am I sane?",
Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, Even Led Zepplin,
Pop in the disk and listen to the music,
Lose yourself,
Lose your mind,
Lose your sanity,
Close your eyes,
And just listen,
Lose yourself in this drug caled music,
Take a drug and the effects are amplified
Sets me free,

I wish I could be like you. I often go through periods of time when I can't listen to music at all because there is too much going on inside my own head, and silence and communicating with my husband, and art and poetry and my anti-depressants and beer and cigarettes are my best answers. Just not all at once! That is extremely overwhelming and dangerous!

The title to this poem really drew me in. Music is really a drug to some; it certainly can be euphoric. Ever got chill bumps all over your body while listening to music? That's endorphins! Good poem - I know exactly the feeling you refer to.
