And So It Goes

I have tried my hand at many a poem  
most have been less satisfactory then first conceived  
and I suppose if aimed at a particular goal of commentators  
epic failure I must be  
 
For yes there is a genre which gains more attention  
but it isn't for mass popularity that I write  
more about a need that is solitary  
attempts to collaborate typically fall flat  
 
Some have a political hue and are manifestations  
of my distaste for political shenanigans  
and the lack of civility suffocating any dialogue  
a two party system monopolizing choices  
 
Others reflect my flaws and idiosyncrasies  
or thoughts I rarely give the light of day  
shawdows of insecurities maybe bordering on paranoia  
or wanton carnal notions in charge  
 
But all find a place in defining my past, my present and future  
the process fulfilling even if the result finds the trash  
or is a waste of energy on a handheld device  
and so it goes...
