sunshine

 
I weep a desolate child in the rain
people walked by  
no one saw my tears
they blend with the downpour
 
I smiled at them
a smile that didn't light my eyes
it was small and hopeful
 
waiting on the sun to shine down
on the lost, misfit soul
who just don't belong
 
then stopped a man
with concern in his eyes
saying you look sad
why are you crying?
 
relief wracked my little frame
someone saw me
in the torrent another saw my pain
 
the sun peeked out
it claimed it's own
a misfit no more
