Gifted
The child is told he has that "shine"
The gift of perceiving ghosts
So far it seems just more than fine
They are, after all, the hosts
He hears when the elder spirit calls
Then finds her rotting in the bath
"Redrum" smeared on all the walls
A warning of his father's wrath
Daddy wields a woodland axe
Splinters every single door
The experience the child lacks
Means no cessation to the horror
The father freezes in the snow
Dies with the cold wind burn
His fragile family fails to know
That dear Daddy will return.
