Image for the poem Lestat Impression

Lestat Impression

She wore pearls, leather and lace
A harlequin mask strapped to her face
She remained, quite soon to meet
A charming gent on Bourbon Street

He appeared a deathly pale
But so handsome she began to quail
Broad-shouldered, in the best of shape
And dapper in a swirling cape

He transfixed her on the spot
Bowed and claimed the name "Lestat"
Picked her up, began to fly
And listened to his lady sigh

His teeth finally found a vein
Drove young missy quite insane
Lestat savored the taste of blood
Then pouring in the sweetest flood

They drifted back to New Orleans
The revival bands and dancing queens
Lestat came to a mid-air stop
Then breathed "adieu" and let her drop.
