Somewhere I'd Like To Be
There is no “reset” button in life
And I really wish there were
Because sometimes I get so frustrated
With everything and everybody
I want the go out for ice cream
And take a left turn and just keep going
Then by hook or crook end up in India
India is third world enough
To leave all of my first world problems behind
I can reinvent myself there
Forget who I was
Be who I want to be
Live in the moment of the here and now
And have a new future lying at my feet
India is far enough away and full of strangers
I won’t stumble upon a friend or acquaintance there
No one will recognize me at the market
And shout to the world
“Here he is! This is the one you’ve been looking for.
He’s been hiding from you right here the whole time.”
In India no one knows me
It is far enough away from the old me
But not far enough from the voice
Inside me who knows all my secrets
My conscience, that voice of truth
That tells me to get up each day
And live a life full of problems
The same as everyone else is having to do
Why should I be so special?
I have trials and tribulations here
I would have them in India too
The voice of truth says
“You never get rid of your problems,
You just exchange them for new ones.”
I wish life had a “reset” button
And I wish India was far enough away.
And I really wish there were
Because sometimes I get so frustrated
With everything and everybody
I want the go out for ice cream
And take a left turn and just keep going
Then by hook or crook end up in India
India is third world enough
To leave all of my first world problems behind
I can reinvent myself there
Forget who I was
Be who I want to be
Live in the moment of the here and now
And have a new future lying at my feet
India is far enough away and full of strangers
I won’t stumble upon a friend or acquaintance there
No one will recognize me at the market
And shout to the world
“Here he is! This is the one you’ve been looking for.
He’s been hiding from you right here the whole time.”
In India no one knows me
It is far enough away from the old me
But not far enough from the voice
Inside me who knows all my secrets

I wish life had a “reset” button
And I wish India was far enough away.
