It Wasn’t Meant To Be This Way
( a Quatern )
It wasn’t meant to be this way,
Of how I introduced myself.
When looking back upon that day;
I could’ve left you on the shelf.
That’s how the gears turn in my head.
It wasn’t meant to be this way,
But I don’t live beneath my bed
Unless you join me there to stay.
But neither have we feet of clay;
We’ve always done it in the rough.
It wasn’t meant to be this way,
We just prefer it in the buff.
I’m glad I ‘barged’ into your ‘prow’,
It’s been a frequent way we play.
Tho’ we’ll both live with it somehow,
It wasn’t meant to be this way.
It wasn’t meant to be this way,
Of how I introduced myself.
When looking back upon that day;
I could’ve left you on the shelf.
That’s how the gears turn in my head.
It wasn’t meant to be this way,
But I don’t live beneath my bed
Unless you join me there to stay.
But neither have we feet of clay;
We’ve always done it in the rough.
It wasn’t meant to be this way,
We just prefer it in the buff.
I’m glad I ‘barged’ into your ‘prow’,
It’s been a frequent way we play.
Tho’ we’ll both live with it somehow,
It wasn’t meant to be this way.
