Fibbing & Little White Lies

the truth is always hidden
deliberately so by most
they may think they have good reasons
not really wanting to hurt your feelings
all allegedly for your benefit and mood

I don't believe in sin as a real concept
That does not exclude people from being immoral
Or showing a lack of respect by lying to another
About their real intentions towards you

People say that people in love tell lies
To protect their partner from bad stuff
Lying makes their love questionable
Despite their motivations or excuses

There are no fibs or white lies all are black
The problem is that the truth always surfaces
And the hurt caused by the lie may be irreparable
A trust broken is not easy to rebuild or fix
Is the lie really worth it in the long run

Now before this feels like a sermon
Everybody lies, no exception - sorry
I lie and also mask up a lot in pretence
Recently I did something dishonest
And as always the truth by my confession
Bubbled to the surface as it always does
My motivation = desperation and severe
Anxiety in trying to establish the truth

Lying in order to find honest answers
Ironic as that sounds was still lying
Regardless of accepted apologies
I still strongly feel eternally ashamed

I have come to the conclusion that
Lying is never ok, no reason acceptable
Clear your mind, sit ready to think
Ok! Who are you lying to right now
Are you afraid to brake them with the truth

The breakage will be so much worse
As a result of the lie and loss of trust
So here's an idea for all of us
Think of somebody you say you love

The thing you are hiding
The basis of your lies
Forget motivation
Tell them the truth
Seek forgiveness and understanding

Admission, confession is what
Shows respect and love
Getting found out
Is never good
