THE COFFEE CEREMONY

Beneath the Northern Lights I partook in a most exotic tasty delight.
Among the Sami’s warm hospitality, I was invited to their sacred coffee ceremony.
Drinking a latte, a culinary rarity it was flavored reindeer dairy.
It was a nutty creamy coffee that any Starbuck Caribou would envy.
While sipping my brew from a wooden birch mug,
That night I forever became friends with the people called the Sami.

At times the Sami people partake in a sacred coffee ceremony. Usually held outdoors, the Sami brew strong coffee in large copper kettles.  Wooden birch mugs of strong brew are flavored with chunks of rare cheese made from reindeer milk they call Kridakorn.  The Sami believe that those who participate in this ceremony will be friends forever.  Though I have never participated in such an event, my Norwegian grandfather did in his youth and said it was the most delicious drink he ever drank in his life.  I hope to have a birch mug of it before I die.
