HOT SUNDAY AFTERNOON

What difference 24 hours does make;
Tonight it's cool, yesterday did we bake!
Its heat's no respecter of fashion 'style',
To resist it in clothes would be futile.
So to get the best feelgood in the day
We modify garb to meet it half way.
When back from church and my singing of hymns
I put sun cream on my face and all limbs
And 'dress down' to look like an Australian
When I mow and water my back garden
In my brimmed sun hat, T-shirt and swim shorts,
Decent enough to keep me out law courts.
Then I go indoors, get blinds, curtains drawn,
Doing indoor stuff like day I was born,
Making salad sandwiches in the kitchen
Out of the neighbour's view with no stitch on.
(Bible inspired, from Adam I take cue
From what I do read in Genesis Two...)
Next morn I go to work in light clothing
So at my desk I don't get too sweating.
When I have come home, heat's took a downturn,
So I cycle around  not fearing sunburn.
