Exits

On each exit
you enter

a surge of dopamine
convincing
and brief

guiding you

to the next portal
of escape

Creatures of patterns

we are

choosing veils
to hide our uncertain fears

It hurts to dig

to examine a life
and we bolt for the door

uncomfortable sensations
impinge upon
stubborn tendencies

Can the tears heal?

Will you stop running
to face the dysfunction of the core?

Maybe if I look it in the eye
right now

it will save a lifetime
of going in circles.
