Ceiling Fan

I've lived in this apartment for most of my adult life
In my first summer here my parents bought me a ceiling fan
I noted in was made in Korea
That was good I thought
The Korean products were known to be well made
I hired an electrician out of the Penny Saver
He was Israeli and charged me $50
I had to help him as the fan was heavy
He did a good job running the line to a wall switch

I'm in my 41st summer
My parents both gone
My hair mostly gone
My ceiling fan rocks on
Quietly cooling my living room
An old friend that doesn't say much
Dependable needing no maintenance
I look up in awe
Grateful for the breeze
I wonder sometimes about the electrician
We were about the same age
Small moments in a life lived
There's no ending
Just on and off
