Derek

I love you son, my little man,
My wanderer, with little plans.
You crawl, and sprawl,
And sometimes fall,
But always smile through it all.
You chase things that ring or shine,
And catch them most of the time!
Then once you do, you smile again,
And I tell you, it's true, my friend,
Your smile is so worth while to see,
Amazingly, it mirrors me!
Not only does it look like mine,
But they happen at the same time!
Almost like we share a mind,
Or soul, or genes, or just our eyes.
Whatever makes us what we are,
You're made of me, so I'm not far.
I'll always live inside your heart,
But you knew that right from the start.
I'll teach you what I've learned from life,
And how to live it all in stride.
No matter how hard it will get,
Just promise you won't quit yet.
For life may well not be worth living,
Without the purpose that you're giving;
But equally, take in this plea,
To call on me if you're in need,
For if the wolves howl up a spell,
I'll follow them, and I'll bring Hell.
