I don't ask for much

If you sit down beside me
with the realization
I was doing just fine
before you got there
wanting to only add
to my existence in the moment
and beyond
taking in the beauty of life
good and bad
around us, sharing thoughts,
laughter, tears

inner strength
a gift I give you without thought
intention, expectation or need
if my independent spirit
scares you
makes you uncomfortable,
forceful,
you should just get up
and leave
