Image for the poem child of scorn

child of scorn

the night felt my trepidation
it smelled my fear

"it answered come child
and witness the stars
astrologically speaking
they are aligned in your favor
you are the huntress of the cosmos
why do you tremble
who do you fear?"

"garner your strength
in the sixth hour
of the twelfth day
the moon will arise in your favor
it converses with the stars themselves
over your safety

"they light the way
when your path is darkened
be it by day or night
they will illuminate your mind
with their star-shine"

"the sun in all her glory
is there but to warm you
not judge you
who has given you the right
to be judge and jury over thyself
if you be blameless
here in the celestial courts
how do you yet find fault?"

"I tell you that it is rags
that you adorn yourself with
when I have made you
fine garments to wear
put on tomorrow
and take off yesterday"

"shine brightly decked
with the jewels of wisdom
child of scorn
fear no more"
