I am the quiet, I am the storm
I am the rose, I am the thorn
I am the judgment and yet the compassion
I am the student who teaches the lesson
I am the silence, I am the noise
I am the decision without the choice
I am the black, I am the white
An angel by day and a vampire at night
I am contradiction and in between
I am the change that is yet to be seen
I am the one who longs to be free
I am and I am and more I will be

I absolutely love this poem. This really relates to someone who is both a strong extrovert and struggling a lot with depression. I feel like this poem is very genuine.
I have a few questions about the line "I am contradiction and in between" I feel like this like is not quite as clear as the other. In all the other lines I can feel a strong 'ying yang' and i feel like in this line it is lacking the yang to the contradiction.
Also I love the poem and thank you for sharing and I am a very new writer so please disregard anything you want!

Thanks for your appreciation and for your question.
You are right, in the last verse I break with the pattern of using opposites.
The whole last verse a bit of a synthesis.
It's also about the grey shades and all other possibilities and potentials that could be, will be, or are in the process of becoming. We are not just black and white even though we at times struggle with opposing forces...there are all the other colors and then some. The point was to not just keep going in opposing statemens but bring it more to a rounded end and yet leave everything open....an open end as the last contradiction.
