COMING HOME INTO EACH OTHER

Yesterday each other's existence
was unknown, but the heart's insistence
caused us to make up for the lost time,
No time to hang around, reason, rhyme.

We had been lovers in a past life
but drifted apart, met husband, wife,
and raised our respective families
before going through our divorces.

The wheel of Fate had fully revolved
from when, into adults, we evolved.
Fate reunited us, as in plan,
two-decades older woman and man.

Arrived at the same hotel we'd booked,
we were wowed how handsome we still looked.
She was like a Sophia Loren,
dark hair and skin good now as then.

She told me, "You still look a hero;
I called you my Robert De Niro.
We could have had beautiful children
if we'd stuck it out and married then."

No need of a courtship and romance;
we re-bonded over drink and dance
when we had changed into light clothing,
caught up on our lives, reminiscing.

I'd donned some shorts and a short-sleeve shirt,
She looked a killer in blouse and skirt
which showed off her legs to advantage
and gave me a view of her cleaveage.

Imagining us back in the days
of adolescent physical ways,
she talked, her mind falling into track,
of times when I got her on her back.

But we'd always stopped short of making love.
"Now we can do it - my room's above,
We're both free to do the full monty!
You want to come up 'for a coffee'? "

Her eyes looked quite deeply into mine,
over the rim of the glass of wine
as she posed the question daringly.
I smiled, "Yes - you are seducing me!"

I asked, 'Would you like a slow last dance
before we go up?" She took the chance.
Through our clothes we began caressing,
as the music gave us its blessing.

Outside temperature stayed hot
while we showed first time all we had got
in privacy of her hotel room
where she confided she had no womb.

"No danger there'll be a pregnancy
now I've had a hysterectomy".
I responded I was vasectomised
when I'd had my kids. ("My ex 'advised'")."

The separating years fell away
with our clothes as we stripped for the hay.
Believers in keeping ourselves fit,
we marvelled how good we looked sans kit.

We pulled ourselves into each other
upon the bed. No sheets did cover
our bodies, now madly entwining
in an act not of our designing.

While her arms cradled my neck and head,
I kissed her breasts as her smooth legs spread.
Eager hands over all curves did roam.
Sexually, we were "coming home".

That took the two of us with a surprise;
a meeting of souls not just the eyes.
We fit together with wettened ease,
She embraced me with ankles and knees.

We thrusted away at full pelter
once my hard length had found its shelter.
We let our bodies do their talking
quite loudly, it was 'run' not 'walking'.

Life had kept us apart those years long,
but we felt we had righted a wrong.
The divorced father, divorced mother
found new belonging in each other.
