Mi Sueño de Amor
Tortillas hot from the oven
Served steamy with Oaxacan tamales
Wrapped in banana leaves
We sit like brother and sister
Yet us former lovers
In the cradle of a taqueria
Where the only noise is Spanish
My litany of love spoken
“Just take an early cancer test.
If you get good results
Then the naturopathy is working.
But if not comply with your doctor
And take your meds.”
The field workers gather around our table
And echo my sentiments word for word
Like a Greek Chorus
She agrees to my idea
Over enchiladas
Dipped in green chili sauce

Thanks so much, Ely. This was based on a dream I had two nights ago about my ex-wife who has advanced cancer. She believes in natural healing as opposed to taking meds. In this dream, I convinced her to take the new meds, which only attack the cancer cells not the healthy ones, if her blood work shows her cancer not improving. Much gratitude.
