Image for the poem melancholy

melancholy's love

relieve the ache with a touch
so tenderly rare
it can only come from one
no not any other

a lover so fair
she binds pain calling it by name
dearest Melancholy
won't you sing for me
let your somber voice be heard
and find freedom today

she answers her love
from the depths
see me in the blue room of regret
curled in a ball of agony

my passion so bright it burns
having no place to go in your silent times
it returns to me a flame so ferocious
turning my thoughts to ash

rising up my love turns to anger
then upon hearing your voice
I repent it

I do my best to call it back
but it is fierce with a mind of its own
speaking from childhood hurts
of trusts abused

you tenderly take my rage
and put it to your breast
feeding it loving truths

a heart so giving it will not stop
in each beat it speaks of its deep love
within your thoughts you caress mine
soothing the ache

holding your body close to mine
I know I am home
