insidious

 
the demons came
they swarmed
and took me over
with their insidious nature

I see them in my nightmares
where they can't hide
their true intent is seen
deep in slumber

I feel their presence
strangling me
coming at me with their arsenal

once I was a child
and took flight into the heavens
with mighty wings
left them far below
tethered to the bowels of the Earth

they would howl
gnash their teeth
my soul would shake them

I soar the cosmos
climb the highest reaches of space
seeking inner peace

too often I see these minions
mocking me
with their gaping maws
that seek to feast off my soul

I look for his face
but its not to be found
he is in his inner sanctum
the place deep in space
where silence abounds

a child crushed
I get no answers
