In the beginning
Swirling in the eddies of Millennia,
particulates gather in the banks of rivers and streams forming large deposits or Rocks of Clay
When these Rocks are pulverized and mixed with water and aged
they can be reshaped by hand
unto a vessel, then vitrified by fire with
an aesthetic and useful purpose
called Pottery
Thousands of years in the making
this was the
Beginning of Culture

Many relics from ancient civilizations are decorated pottery. I like the last line: "Thousands of years in the making but this was the beginning of culture." True words.

Great ode to clay. It seems like those ancient crafts preserve knowledgo of primal earthen wisdom. Like baking and weaving...it connects us to the source and reminds us that we are part of something bigger. Very satisfying.

Me too! Now my hands don't seem to know what to do. The clay was everything. The process giving purpose to my life.
