Mea Culpa

Faces drifting from the past
Whispering about my wayward ways
The heartbreak remaining in my wake
While I'm left with my regret

Invasion, theft and ransacked rooms
My gift to those returning home
A break in for silver artifacts
Selected treasures from their lives

My sleep is haunted by these deeds
All the traumas that I've caused
I readily accept the blame
Shouldering the weight of shame.
