The Twig
Green leaves writhing,
above the coals;
green leaves cast off
in flashing sparks,
twisting, crying, squirming
defiant fights on,
spitting wounds,twisting
twisting, crying .
Sizzling coals ,glowing,
glowing embers black
black until sap has dried,
flames to rise once more
spring from the heat .
Twisting squirming crying.
Beneath the tree from
whence the twig was taken
I sit, think and feel warmth,
The twig feeling heat and hurt
Twisting curling,cries again,
cries and bursts to flames.
