Glass of Coke

Half a dozen drinkers at the bar
talk of school and rugby; the oval ball not for me
but listened by the fire, its crackling comfort,
a box of logs and sticks drying for tomorrow.
A glass of Coke ( Monday is my 'dry-day' )
chatting with Di' who's drinking tea.
Could have stayed  home
not risked slippery roads,
but the thaw was set, at least tonight,
Home again to plan tomorrow,
where to go and what to eat.
