darkness greed

  
are you well acquainted with the darkness
and it with you?  
   
do you know the difference  
between its visage and yours?  
   
when it silently hisses blasphemies    
are you willing to credit your name  
with his?  
   
does he wrap you in his arms  
when you're down and lonely?  
   
does he visit you in the cell  
he created for you to die in?  
 
do you look to the heavens  
after he's raped your intentions  
of every last bit of hope    
you could muster?  
   
will you then lay claim to his bastard children  
lies, filth and depravity?  
   
he says you lie down with him willingly  
I ask you this  
did you?  
   
or were you stripped of your faith systematically    
day in and out  
until you could no longer bear the pain  
of entering the light?  
   
so you hid in the dark  
in the arms of the devil  
who stole your life's vision  
   
tell me child is this really your decision?
