Boathouse Girl

when they first heard me sing
I surprised them all
they didn't think me capable at all
we were all high on life and drink
like you surprised me
I didn't even think
but you did, with your tan and tattoos
I only watched with envy
as the sight of you, spead up my heartbeat
with your boyfriend nonetheless
he's got good taste, not settling for anything less
to be honest, you weren't up in my hard on ranks
but then you pulled the summer prank
of wearing shorts, bearing your tattoos
that caught me blind, and I was sold and seduced
you tan well too
trumps anything I could ever do.

....

you say that I'm a nice guy
But, look at your weekends compared to mine
and, I could be like you, if I only try
but I have, yet alone on friday nights, I cry.

I like how you've been nice to me
and I appreciate your sympathies
but when I saw your legs for the first time
I knew right then, you would never want to be mine.

I know for your ways, they may look down on you
but don't worry, they do me too
but the difference is you have a check and balance
while I am totally denounced
but one man's trash is another treasure
and one man's pogrom is another's pleasure.

....

you say that I'm a nice guy
But, look at your weekends compared to mine
and, I could be like you, if I only try
but I have, yet alone on friday nights, I cry.

you say that I'm a nice guy
But, look at your weekends compared to mine
and, I could be like you, if I only try
but I have, yet alone on friday nights, I cry ....
💔😢
