Poolside

I can see you on the edge,
dipping a toe in the water
to brace for the eventual plunge.
It could be warmer,
but the bake of the sun
Invites courage
to chance the first chill.

You will adapt, as you always do.
He will admire that
and a splash will follow
to emerge behind you.

You will feel him against you
his arms cradling across your torso,
pulling you closer
his stiffness settling
into the natural groove
of the bikini bottom.

The water won't matter,
as a different warmth
crawls inside to the surface.

You would accept him,
if he were to slip inside of you,
but others are arriving,
and you will have to wait.

But the rented hotel room,
that will be another matter.
