You tread lightly upon ice    
skimmed over my lake    
walking on embered eggshells
sole passions in tow    
   
Eventually the break-throughs    
will come more often    
   
as warming trends you bring    
season this heart spent    
glazed in translucent    
imprisonment, having    
watched the world above    
skate on by without it    
for so long    
   
I ascend to join you on the surface    
seeking path of least resistance    
eager to embrace your heat;
