Side Effects

The medication has its caveats
Warnings of potential side effects
Documented danger, potential risk
Behavioral changes on the list

This new prescription down the throat
Absorbed and taking full effect
A few symptoms cornered and contained
Dormant while the new ones thrive:

My hair gains coarseness and some length
Eyes protrude, bloodshot to hell
The skin grows scales, a new mosaic,
The tongue writhing like an angry snake

The neuropathy remains the same
As does the mumble of familiar pain
One more visit to the man who heals
Hoping he knows how this feels.
