Long Weekends

The lure of a long weekend
and expectations brim to the surface
a foamy layer of white
concealing the darker thoughts
- those inclinations
to shake the shackles of convention
and adopt a feisty flamboyance
squirting passion
among persuasive participants.

The devotion of a past dysfunction,
does not dissipate so easily.
But the absence of the buffet
- boxed beer and motivating spirits,
eliminates the possibilities.

I have lived without that fuel of encouragement,
but it does not negate
that the quest of decadence
flirts with me
if boredom
should call.

I allowed myself to be led,
providing no influence
only surrender.

Such strange substitutions,
balloons, cake
and swinging piñata's.
