Whispers

Morning's monotone whispers carry across  fields
repeated tones drift through hedgerow and snicket
snails adding silence, prevent the blackbird song,
shrill warnings and courting calls to reluctant hens
less than this all silence would cease. Robin chatter,
to confirm silence needs sound as sky needs the
green of grass, skin to glaze in golden sun and dew,
Dew evaporates as clocks chime six, hands erect
six hours before  combining in unison at twelve
parting as  midnight strikes again.
