Image for the poem sorrow

sorrow's ocean

the desert searched and was parched
it sought the rain inside my spirit
where storm clouds brew
with every painful feeling

tears that are trapped
in the sea of the hopeless
would flood the dry Earth
if I were but willing to free them

I fear the blooms that would spring
from these feelings
flowers of pain
forlorn in their fragrance

what type of birds would be drawn
to ones such as these?

my grief my armor
where I stay hidden

no one can swim this great ocean
many have tried
and have been taken by the undercurrent
where sorrow and madness drown
laying claim to them

the desert will go dry
the sun set on my heart
and the storm clouds dissipated

as I swallow my tears
just more drops in the ocean
