Image for the poem The Cur

The Cur

the resounding silence cradled me
it echoed my despair
and inside it I found understanding

two like minds the darkness and I
its features unclear
I saw my reflection there
in its marred visage
I was mirrored

so many faces beset me
one of the faithful
so beautifully shining

another of the cur
feral and needy
I claw at the truth of it

steady and true
deceitful and ugly
all crashing into each other
who am I?
what am I?

the darkness stirs
it whispers secrets in riddles
tells me I will understand in time

"there is a woman who lost her way
you are that lady
the river of truth flows in and from you"

"follow the cur
until you have your fill"

"face yourself in the pages you keep
in the diaries of your mind
you are redeemed"
