by the river
I'll be getting high,
getting high by the river tonight,
trying to forget,
getting far to high to fight.
gone in my mind, drifting to the wind,
calling names out to the darkness,
addiction and mistrust run off many a friend,
so I'll be getting high
getting high tryna meet my end,
I'll be getting high by the river tonight
getting to stoned, or to zoned,
to pick another fight,
I'll be getting high by the river tonight.

Author's Note
what inspired this story was when i was a junkie (a few years ago) if i wanted to get so high it might all go away, I would go lay by the river and bang dope or such..if your struggling with either demon mentioned here, suicide or addiction, hang on hard, it gets better, I promise

There's a message of hope here in your poem & you are honest enough to reveal some of the side effects this addiction had on you. It's interesting to read that you yourself took more dope in the hope it would lessen your troubles. Nice write, Brian the Lion.

I like the structure and simplicity of this poem. Could be a song lyric. Well done.
