We are not politicians
we can speak our mind  
free from the fear of offending  
free from the script to which we’re bound  
we can live our lives  
free from the oppression  
of political correctness  
free from the ever mounting pressure  
of an ever growing  
group of piers  
 
Dare to be different  
dare to be the same  
dare to have a sense of humour  
dare to use your  inquisitive brain  
 
Be patriotic  
fly your flag with pride  
stand by your convictions  
stand, don’t run or hide  
 
Celebrate our differences  
accept  we are not all the same    
try to understand  
learn, not judge or lay down blame  
 
Open free discussion  
of free and open minds
free to disagree  
new ideas we’re free to find  
 
Forgive them their trespasses  
their transgressions    
their ignorance  
teach them another way  
words they use from habit  
with no knowledge of their weight  
the disrespect in what they say  
 
We are more than we were yesterday  
and not quite what we will be tomorrow  
so be patient, hold your wrath  
Take offence when its intended  
don’t intend to take offence
