In the Moment

Have you ever stopped to realize
That you were in a moment?
And enjoyed every second
Before that time was spent?
We always look back to whenever it was
With fond memories and regret,
That we miss that time period in our lives
Or place, or people that we’ve met.
Old friends in school years
Before we grew up and life changed us all.
Maybe a job we had or your first apartment,
When you were broke but you somehow always had a ball!
When you learned that hard lesson that was difficult to take,
But you know you needed.
Or that sense of accomplishment after pushing yourself
And you finally succeeded!
The moment when you’re watching a great movie
That would turn out to be your favorite ever,
And you pause inside yourself and recognize,
How clever!
What about when your child is young and you wonder,
What they will be like as they get older?
Then during their teenage years you wish they could reverse,
As their attitude grows bolder and colder.
Just take a second to linger in a moment
And realize when things are good.
Life’s much too short so don’t let the good times pass by,
Faster than they should!
