ONCE I WAS

ONCE I WAS
Once, I was immortal.......
all the way up until the day that I died
With one unseen step I finally flew
with a fiery freedom I never knew
The Father could have stopped me
had he bothered, I don't believe that he tried
Thrust into a dismal abysmal portal
I don't believed the angels cried
They waved farewell with a kiss dismissed
at the abyss as I fell towards Hell in bliss
into a mighty malicious maelstrom
hurled within a violent vicious hailstorm
with tempestuous temptresses forever bound
shrieking their sultry siren sound
twirling in limbo around and around
I knew instinctively, intellectually, internally
that my soul would fall eternally.......
until I finally hit the ground.
My body never found.
Never sought nor bought nor sold
down the hill in Hell my soul rolled
into the fiery Phlegethon river
flowing into the inner circle sea
Once, I was immortal.......
and now I know I'll always be
